God is love
God is light
God is truth

God will stretch beyond the widest boundaries
across ages past to present day
civilizations will rise and fall
and God will always come
to speak to you in words
meant just for you to understand

God may speak through a poem
or a song
or through the teachings of Siddhartha
when he listened under the tree
through prophets in distant lands
or through the parables
of a carpenter's son

the message is always
you are loved
care for each other
listen and come home
to rest

if that is not what you hear
it is not God's voice
for you were made in God's holy image
whether your beautiful skin is dark or light
whether you are gay or straight
whether you are rich or poor
whether you have accepted a personal savior or not
God claims you as his own
