yoga means union
the union of the mind and body
through the breath
your mat provides the space
between four corners
to move and connect
as you breathe deeply
not to master perfection
in postures
but to practice living
in the present moment

as humans we tend
to live in the mind
where yesterday and tomorrow
take up residence
in regret and guilt
over previous actions and words
or in worry and doubt
about upcoming events as chances
to become more perfect
and we carry that around
like a heavy yoke
crushing our minds and bodies

in meditation and savasana
we are training our minds
to let that toxic mess go
to breathe in the air
around us and relax
into the present moment
this is how the healing comes
as we are freed
from the weight
of the burden we place upon ourselves

the present moment
is a gift
close your eyes and breathe it in
open them and notice
the life within you
the loved ones around you
the light inside your heart
roll up your mat
and walk into your day
in peace
