The Hindu goddess, Saraswati, represents the eternal flow of wisdom and creativity like a sacred life-giving river. She embodies music and art and touches us with her blessings to create works of artistic beauty. She speaks to me in quiet moments with a sudden idea or thought that I feel I must craft into words. Saraswati bestows inspiration.

Saraswati enters 
like a gentle river
as she whispers
a crevice opens 
in my brain
and the water begins to flow
trickling slowly
towards my fingertips
and toes
the idea takes flight
the words begin to form
inspiration takes hold
in a creative burst
of perception
I now have a message
to tell
I will write it down
tenderly
and release it to the wind
as I bow in gratitude
to the goddess
